NDIS Short Term Accommodation (STA)

A genuine break for everyone
About Respite Care

A genuine break for everyone

Short-Term Accommodation (STA), often called respite care, gives NDIS participants a safe, supported place to stay for a short period while giving family members and carers the breathing space they genuinely need.

Our STA services are designed to feel like a real change of scenery. Activities are built around your interests, care is consistent, and our team ensures you feel comfortable from day one.

Understanding the Support

What is Short-Term Accommodation?

STA is an NDIS-funded support that covers accommodation and personal care for up to 28 days per year. It is used when a participant’s usual supports are temporarily unavailable, or when both participant and carer want time apart to rest. STA can also be a great opportunity to develop independence skills and social connections in a supported setting.

Frequently asked questions

1. How many days of STA can I access per year?

The NDIS generally funds up to 28 days of STA per year. The exact amount in your plan depends on your individual circumstances. Your support coordinator or LAC can clarify what is available in your specific plan.

2. Can STA be arranged at short notice for emergency situations?

Yes, in some cases. If your usual carer becomes unexpectedly unavailable, we will do our best to accommodate urgent requests. Please contact us as early as possible so we can confirm availability.

3. Does my carer or family member stay with me during STA?

STA is designed to give both participants and carers a break from usual arrangements. Family members and carers do not typically stay during an STA booking, though regular updates are provided throughout.

4. What if I have complex care needs?

We support participants with a range of complex and high-level needs during STA. Please contact our team directly to discuss your specific requirements and confirm how we can best support you during your stay.
